Mark Murray is a Senior Associate with AGC in the firm's transactional department, serving as Assistant General Counsel to the Montebello Unified School District, and Deputy City Attorney to the cities of Norwalk, Huntington Park, Pico Rivera, Lynwood, Commerce, Chico, Buena Park and Montebello.
Prior to joining AGC, Mr. Murray represented public agencies, including K-12 school districts, community college districts, and municipalities. He is well-versed in student rights and privacy, employee discipline, civil rights compliance, special education, charter schools, public works contracts, Public Records Act requests and the Brown Act. As county counsel in Nashville, Tennessee, Mr. Murray provided daily guidance to district administrators and managers, and multiple government departments and commissions on issues involving teacher dismissals, all special education matters, student discipline, civil rights complaints, charter schools, public contracts, public records requests, open meetings, and affordable housing. Additionally, he has experience in conducting internal investigations on claims of sexual harassment, unprofessional conduct and racial discrimination.
Mr. Murray earned his Juris Doctor from Vanderbilt University Law School. While at Vanderbilt, Mr. Murray was the President of the Labor and Employment Society and Authorities Editor for the Journal of Transnational Law.
Prior to law school, Mr. Murray taught high school social studies at a charter school in San Bernardino and coached soccer after earning his teaching credential from California State University Long Beach and a Bachelor's degree in sociology from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
