John W. Lam, a Senior Partner at Alvarez-Glasman & Colvin, is a dedicated attorney with decades of experience in public service and legal advocacy. Recognized for his commitment to municipalities and public agencies across California, Mr. Lam plays a critical role in ensuring transparent, effective representation for his clients. Mr. Lam currently serves as the City Attorney for the City of Chico and as Assistant City Attorney to the cities of Buena Park and Lynwood.

Mr. Lam’s expertise spans municipal law, real estate, land use and planning. He regularly advises on issues such as the Public Records Act, the Ralph M. Brown Act (open meetings), conflicts of interest, public contracting, prevailing wages, and land use planning. His knowledge has helped local governments and public entities address legal challenges with integrity and accountability, ensuring their actions align with the best interests of their communities.

During his time at Loyola Law School, he served as Executive Editor of the Loyola of Los Angeles Law Review and authored several published works. His early experience clerking at the California Attorney General’s Office prepared him for a career dedicated to municipal law and public service.
